Power dels (delegates) are in every single committee. They’re basically people who are gavel hunting in a VERY obvious way. During unmods they’ll speak over people and try to speak constantly. Then, when it comes to deciding Q and A and presentation speakers they’ll demand to do one if not both of them. They don’t practice diplomacy and essentially try to control the bloc completely.
However, I’ve found that if you notice a delegate is being an annoying power del then everyone else in the bloc is probably also annoyed. I whisper to the delegate next to me and basically complain about them. The mutual hatred can help you bond with the other people in your bloc and bring them to your side.
In the long run it’s important that you don’t let a power delegate steal and control your bloc. In order to prevent this I try and speak with each individual person in the bloc and basically emphasize that we should prioritize diplomacy and collaboration. Most of the time they’ll listen to me and we can confront the power del together.
It’s also important to note that you SHOULD NOT ACT LIKE A POWER DEL. If your entire bloc hates you because you’re annoying then you’re not going to get sponsorship or even award. Some staple phrases of a power del are “you go next” or someone who comments after every single delegate speaks.
I’ve seen countless power dels lose sponsorship because no one wanted to vote for them. I’ve also even experienced being ostracized from my bloc because I was too controlling. It’s important to strike a perfect balance. You shouldn’t be too overbearing but you also need to ensure that your presence is established.
